Happy New Year! & 2013 promises to be quite a year. At The Showroom there are no New Years resolutions. Instead we’ve decided to embrace challenges and celebrate style and talent. In first of the Style series we speak to Creative Director of luxury bespoke menswear label 19-EIGHTY-2, Fatima Ali. Here she opens up about style and what inspires her.

Q. One word that sums up your style

Classic – simply because my wardrobe consists of double breasted blazers, high waisted trousers and silk blouses.

Q. Dream destination…

Florence- Italy: I dream to walk through the leather markets, to walk along the Ponte Vecchio bridge and be inspired by the world’s most beautiful jewellery stores, and of course I love people watching, and the Piazza Della Signoria is the perfect place for both people watching and delicious coffee. I dream of the endless galleries and the picturesque scenes, my idea of perfect!

Q. Book you wish you’d written

Sense and Sensibility – one of the most beautifully written books ever, Perfect definition of how we humans love differently

Q. What piece of Music that inspires you.

Flamenco Sketches by Miles Davis from the album Kind of Blue.

Q. Musician or band everyone must see

About a year and a half ago I was introduced to a young American gent, who goes by the name of Nick Hakim, if you love neo-soul, then this gent’s voice will take you places.
